Everything seems a bit much at the moment, dissertation seems like this giant monster I have to wrestle with.
My starting point was LGBT zine culture, and I think it's smart to research around this area as things like zines give me something visual or word based to analyse within my dissertation.
I was interested in what I went into towards the end of my second year essay, the idea that 'queering the canon' is a form of social protest and a kickback to the heteronormative society we live in. I feel early LGBT art and self publishing were very political and protest driven.
It's all very big feeling, but also causes me anxiety about not finding things to research. First hand research is my biggest worry, currently, my plans for first hand research is to contact via email small LGBT publishers to possibly ask questions
The Jaye Bloomfield Resource Library- Part of the Jaye Bloomfield LGBT Centre in Manchester, "LGBT, feminist and activist resources" finding LGBT books etc, can be hard in the giant libraries like the University of Leeds Library, this is a small specialised place. They've also recently started a small LGBT zine collection.
Supposed Crimes-
I have a couple of other people I could possibly email too.
